Protect yourself and your instrument with guitar insurance from Lark Music

As one of the most played and loved musical instruments in the world, we know how important your guitar is to you. Make sure it’s fully protected with the right insurance policy.

Incidents such as propping your guitar against a chair, only to see it slide off and damage the neck, your strap breaking mid gig resulting in your guitar crashing to the ground, or even leaving your guitar tuned and ready on-stage, for it then to be taken, are all common risks every guitarist faces.

Whether you’re touring, teaching, recording or playing in a basement with your band, our specialist guitar insurance can ensure that you are correctly covered for any eventuality. So, this leaves you to get on with what you do best – writing or playing music. Our insurance can provide cover for any type of guitar and with three levels of cover available we can provide a guitar insurance policy that suits you.

“Lark Music is great. They totally get all the issues around the music profession and are very friendly and helpful. I’m very glad I moved to Lark. My former instrument insurance company was perfectly pleasant to deal with, but Lark Music offers far more competitive quotes while being more knowledgeable.”

FAQs

Is my guitar covered with my home insurance?

Home insurance may cover the guitar as standard contents, however there may be restrictions such as:

  • Professional usage
  • Limitations on travel and cover outside of the home
  • Value limitations
  • Higher excesses

Because of this, guitar insurance might be better suited to protecting your guitar.

What is the difference between the three levels of guitar insurance cover?

Our three levels of insurance provide options to suit all types of musicians or collectors:

  • Private premises is perfect for those who aren’t taking their guitar out of their home. Perhaps you’re not performing publicly, or you’re a collector. This policy provides all the elements of cover listed here but only when your guitar is at the private premises listed on your policy.
  • Country of residence is more suited to those who will be travelling with their instrument outside of the home but still in the UK. Country of residence guitar insurance allows you to travel without restriction within the country, so whether you’re going to another city or just on a bus to your local venue to perform, your instrument will be protected.
  • Worldwide provides cover anywhere in the world for any period of time, including whilst in transit by plane, train, boat or car.

Am I covered if I’m travelling?

Yes. Travel is covered with our guitar insurance policy with no restrictions on where you can travel and how long you travel for (dependant on whether you have worldwide or country of residence cover). Please note, your instrument must be in a hard protective case if in transit by plane, cargo or similar for your insurance to be valid when travelling.

Can I cover multiple guitars on one guitar insurance policy?

Yes, you can cover as many instruments as you like under one insurance policy. You can also include all of your accessories, cases, leads, pedals, amps etc.

Which currencies do you accept?

We work with clients worldwide and accept Sterling, Euros and US Dollars when purchasing your policy.

How do I make a claim?

We have an in-house Claims team for our guitar insurance policies, so you can contact us straight away instead of being on hold to a call centre. If in the unfortunate event you need to make a claim you can either contact your Account Handler directly or our Claims team:
